PERSONALIZED POSTAGE RATE TABLE
The Rate Table lists the common denominations used by the USPS within a rate period. This is not an indication that a stamp with that denomination was actually printed or generally offered to the public.
The actual denominations listed on vendor sites varied by rate and year. It is known that specific denominations not listed on the vendors sites were offered to large volume users and that sample / illustrative sheets with non standard denominations were sold to prospective volume purchasers. The expanded Rate Table provides a means of cataloging these special issues.

illustrative denominations are assigned catalog numbers.
The Rate Table is used to
assign a denomination letter to the catalog number. It can also be used
to find the rate letter for a catalog number when the denomination is
known. The rate letter will give the time period of use for a particular
rate. The catalog terminology may use the term "A rate" or use
the 1 ounce letter denomination "37 cent rate" interchangeably.
A rate or "37 cent rate" started 6 - 30 - 2002
B rate or "39 cent rate" started 1 - 08 - 2006
C rate or "41 cent rate" started 5 - 14 - 2007
D rate or "42 cent rate" started 5 - 12 - 2008
E rate or "44 cent rate" started 5 - 11 - 2009
